In the realm of the gods, powerful beings play lords over the Earth. Humanity and Reality is a game to them. They guide worldly development like chess, and their pieces are The Angels. Angels are their pawns, and the gods use them to fulfill their plans. A more correct analogy would be that the Angels are the strings by which the gods puppet humanity.
The Directive is the great will transmitted by deities though the shifting planes of the Astral, to eventually reach an Angel. This astral signal instills a purpose within her. It is a need, a drive to complete a sacred mission she cannot quite explain or point to the origin of.
There are five general types of Directives, each making a wholly different kind of Angel.

Defender
Destroyer
Dictator
Propagator
The higher an angel's Resonance, the more powerful the Directive becomes. Ever more important and profound inspirations for carrying out her purpose find their way into her soul via the stronger conduit. It becomes more difficult to ignore and refuse her Directive, the more in tune with the Astral she gets.
